This year days 2 and 3 of our June Mini Art Camp for Women will start with a three hour Art Journaling class.
As soon as you arrive we will give you your very own art journal as we want you to feel free to make your own account of this week.
How many times have you gathered up receipts, tickets, leaves and pictures on your adventures thinking that you will make your own souvenir/memory book?
Now we will help you do it as you go along so it will be a work in progress and you will be a bona-fide journal artist when you leave camp.
On the very first night we will give you a journal prompt so you will be ready to go on the first day of class. Don’t worry if you have never done this before, it is easy and fun.
On Day 1 We will look at methods used by other journal artists to get the color and composition to come together as you make your daily experiences into art. We will explore a variety of techniques for making colorful and exciting pages.
On Day 2 We will expand our repertoire of tools and techniques to really put the pizzazz into your pages. We will make tape, add pockets, use light molding paste and gel pens, add tabs and much more. Best of all in the evenings we will (if you choose) all get together to journal and trash-talk each other while enjoying dessert and the beverage of your choice.
On both days we will also take time to do a couple of writing practices as many people stall out at this aspect of art journaling. Using the practices of Natalie Goldberg and Julia Cameron, you will find that you too can get words on pages in a coherent manner.
We will always have the art journaling supplies where you can get to them and you can expect the opportunity to relax and putz around with your journals in the evening too.
Lori Wostl has been Art Journaling almost daily for the past five years and brings a freshness and enthusiasm to her classes that takes the worry out and puts the fun in! To see more of Lori’s art journaling check out her blog at keepanartjournal.com.
